An afternoon with Cooper & Zuhri..

Finally, after about 1 year and a half, Cooper came back from the cold Michigan for a short winter break. He's back for only 2 weeks, and I didn't want to miss the oppurtunity to meet up with him. Last time I met him was in May 2003, when sending him off at the airport. Although we do meet up on msn, but its not the same as meeting him face to face.

As agreed, we plan to meet up at Dinar's (our memorable mamak place during those college times!) at 1pm. But, janji melayu biasalah, theres always delay in some ways! (Note: no matter where they go, Melayu akan tetap memunaikan janji melayu, no?) Cooper arrived at about 1.20pm, looking very millitary. He then said he had a flat tyre, and needed to change it quick. So, as soon as Zuhri arrives, we went to the dark & heaty car park and changed the already-flatten tyre. Cooper was all sweaty (he sweats easily!), but it was funny looking at them changing the tyre. I wasn't much of a help, so I just took pics! =)

About half an hour later, the new tyre was replaced! And the three hungry bears headed straight back to Dinar's and ordered Roti Canai Goreng. (Never heard of it? Try it!) We dropped by at Raha's place for awhile, had a chat with her parents (I just realised I haven't been in that house for ages!!) Later, the boys wanted to go to Low Yatt Plaza to find a few stuff. We went in 2 cars, and I followed in Cooper's car (no more Tiara, but a new Iswara). Had interesting conversations with him during our journey to KL. Once we reached Low Yatt, we searched for things, while Zuhri was MIA (he was caught in a massive jam!). After lots of rounding, we had tea eating Roti Boy! Cooper had another appointment with a friend, so I bid him farewell, not knowing the next time I'll see him again (maybe another 1 year an a half? God knows!)

Zuhri was kind enough to send me home (he has always been kind! ) And since it was dinner time, he ate dinner at my crib. Kak long was there too, so we just hang around at my place. Zuhri just a bought a new PDA (O2) the day before, so he was still "playing" around with it. I fed Zuhri with heaps of desserts (lets just say he was well-fed!) He left right before the starting of the finale of "Sex & the City"! (I can't believe I had tears in my eyes after the show!) so yeah.. that was my day..=)

The KTM Adventure..

Me & Kak Long wanted to be "adventurous" and wanted to try out the KTM from Kluang to KL Sentral. So, we stayed an extra night in Kluang, and we were all ready for the 10.55am scheduled train depature. Unfortunately, the train got delayed for another 2 hours, so we both went back home & ate Kluang's famous roti bakar.

**Btw peps, if you do go to Kluang, just go to the train station, theres an old Chinese coffee shop which sells this roti bakar. Although it is only bread, margerine & kaya, but somehow the mixture is fantastic..and it only costs 60 cents! So yeah, try it!!**

So finally at 12.20, the train arrived in Kluang. Since the entire train was really long, I was at coach "T" once it completely stopped. Our seats were at coach "Z", which was 6 coaches away. Since the train was delayed, we were told to just go inside the coach, and find our way inside the train. So, we had to walked across all 6 coaches while the train was moving very fast. At the bridge between the coaches, we could actually see the train tracks beneath us! Both of us were screaming when crossing that interval, which ended up in lots of laughter. Some of the folks were looking at us one kind, but we didnt care less..Then, at every coach, theres a sliding door that could either be automatically opened, or manually opened. Luckily there were 2 gentelmen foreigners to help us get through the first door! Finally, after the all hassle, screams & laughter, we finally reached our assigned seats, Coach Z, #12A & #12B. I was sweating a lil once I sat on my seat, and mind you, this is just the beginning!

Throughout the journey, the sound of the train was so much louder than the TV in front of us. so, unless one just needed visual affects, don't even bother to concentrate on the show! Then, about 15 minutes before reaching Segamat, the train stopped in the middle of nowhere.. then, the annoucement mentioned that there was some technical probs with the engine! so, theres MORE Delay!! aaarrghhh...we ended up not moving for almost 2 hours!

I tried to sleep during the journey..but sometimes, there just too many distractions going on.. baby cries, couple talking, etc etc. (not forgetting the delays! perrghh) Finnaly, we reached KL at 6.45pm, which was supposed to be at 3pm if not for the delay! ishh..thats it! no more long-distance train for me! (within Malaysia, that is! But I'll consider if I get first class ride! hehe)

Lan's wedding receptions..

This is it! The day has arrived! The day we've all been waiting for! Jeng jeng jeng..

Actually, I totally forgot what really happend in the morning, but by 11am, I was already getting ready for the ceremony. Aunty Gee gave us a shock when she told us that the Sultan has already left JB at 12:30pm (it takes about 45 minutes from JB to Kluang). So, things got hectic for a lil while. I managed to arranged the Bunga Telur on the pelamin (for my convinience, of course!). All of us had to stand-by for the Royal Family to arrive. Once they arrived, the "curtsy & bow" routine was been carried out. Oh yes, my adorable Sarah gave a bouqeut of flowers to the Sultanah! Thats so cute! Once all of them were inside the VIP room, the "maginificient 6" had to walk-in to the pelamin. Suprising on the pelamin, I wasn't feeling too nervous, compared to when I was the bridesmaid for my bro's wedding (perhaps 2nd time round, I've learned to be more confident! hah). Soon after, everybody in the hall stood as the Sultan, Sultanah & the rest of the royal family walked in the hall. As practised during rehearsals, we did all the protocals perfectly! During the Tepur Tawar session, the Sultan didn't see me at first..Once he realised that I was at the corner of the pelamin, he went to me & said "La, pendek sangat lah, manalah aku nampak!" I just sat there, and smiled.=)

I was pretty lucky to be giving the Bunga Telurs to the Royal guest, as I get a good view of them close up! Once the pengatin are sitted with the Sultan & Sultanah at the main table, the remaining four of us had to be on "stand-by" at the corner of the hall. At the meantime, the keroncong team were playing & singing their songs, everyone was happily eating the Nasi Minyak, while we kept on looking.. Funny thing is, during the period of "stand-by", I lost my brouch, searched for it, and managed to find it back all within the same hour (don't ask me where the brouch dissapear..not a good place for sure!)

Finally, after cutting the pulut & all, the Sultan & family departed from the hall. I got previllage to salam the Sultan & Sultanah..(now thats a rare occasion). Right after they left, the other guest started to leave as well. At that time, I had another duty, to collect the "angpows" that were given to the Aunty Gee & Uncle Latiff. (and believe me, there's heaps of them!!) At about 3pm, finally I can rest my case & eat my lunch peacefully!

After the afternoon reception, all of us felt tired already..But then, we all have only roughly about 2 hours rest before getting ready for the night reception.. But this time, there wont be any VVVIP guest, so we can ease & chill for this time round.. While everyone is getting ready to go by 7.45pm, I decided to follow the pengatin at 8.30pm (a way for me to sit inside the Jaguar car! hehe) When we reached the hall, we were greeted with "pukulan kompang", and a short show of "silat pengatin" before entering the hall. Once we heard the "Endless Love" song being played, all of us started walking inside the hall, and as a suprise, there were confetties exploded beside us! That created shock among us (we had no clue about it!), but it gave a pretty good impact for the walk-in! On the pelamin, I sat like a doll as it was my partner-in-crime Hidayah(the 2nd bridesmaid, whose duty was to give the Bunga Telur. At the part where we had to walk the pengatin to the main table, I could barely feel my feet! (semut2 giler!) I had to hold the girl pengapit first before I could start walking!

So at this reception, I was able to eat my dinner right on schedule..Before cutting the wedding cake, a very sentimental video of the nikah & bersanding in Penang (proudly done by my very creative cousin, Kamil) was shown on the screens.. The background music was an instrumental version of "First Love", so everyone felt very emotional & touched when watching the video..After cutting the cake, we urgent to the main door to bid farewell to the guests. Again, I was the angpow collector for the night! As always, we took heaps of group photos with the bride & groom. Shortly after all the guest has gone home, we made our way to a place called home.
