RIP Hian Kwang

Last Monday, I got a shocking news from Chia Yee about the loss of my dear high-school friend, Hian Kwang. He was only 28 years old.

He has been suffering from a brain tumor since last year. Ironically, he was at the midst of becoming a neurosurgeon. I remembered signing a "Get well soon" card for him during Mateen's aqiqah, and upon receiving he gave an email saying "Thank you Helena & Mateen".

I've known in way back in 1996, during my PBSM days. We got closer in 1997, becoming really active members, and in 1998, we were both elected in the committee, me as vice & him as president. Over the years until 2000, we both worked our sweat off for the unit, PBSM SL(Y)180. The ups, the downs, the dramas.. we completed most of our courses and even got the opportunity to go to Japan for exchanged program. For me, he was not only a good leader, but a good friend indeed. We too share our love for music (he's good in guitar & drums), and of course, hanging out at one utama was a usual thing back in those days.

Fast forward post high school, we didn't see each other at all. I knew he was in NZ, and he knew I was in Aussie. It wasn't until in 2007, when he was back in KL for a short trip that him, yit hui & I decided to meet up at Ismail Mamak, TTDI.I remembered clearly he wanted me & yit to visit him in NZ, and he wanted to bring us in his plane (he's learnt how to fly too). The three of us also talked about the good ol' high school memories, and how our lives have changed. Little did I know that was my last time meeting him.

Hian Kwang, you are one unique individual who has lived your life to the fullest. May you rest in peace, and you are now free to 'fly' in the heavens above. You are deeply missed. Take care my friend..May God Bless.. Your memories & friendship will be cherished.

RIP Yeoh Hian Kwang
