My first football match: Malaysia VS Indonesia..

See football in everything? Nahh, thats not me. Like football? Yes, I do..especially when theres lots of people watching the game with you..and also especially when my dad is against the team that I'm supporting (mainly MU vs Liverpool or Arsenal), then yes, I love watching the game. The players? Well, those good looking ones are added bonus, but I go more for their skills & strategies (used to love Van Nistelrooy & Owen). Watch on TV? Like duhh, every other time.. but, to watch it live? Hah, NEVER. Well, there's always a first time in everything, right? So finally, I get to watch a LIVE football match at Stadium Bukit Jalil..Tiger Cup : Malaysia VS Indonesia..woohoo~

When I first told my parents that my going to watch the live telecast match, my parents were rather reluctant to let me go. They say that if the Indons lose, they will act agressive & throw mineral bottles & such to the crowd.(Apparently, they are known for that). To convience my parents to let me go, I told that I will be watching the game with a few guy friends of mine (Although I do not know that, but they are Terk's friends), and I said Terk can protect as all (giving you a very macho image here Terk!), so finally, they agreed. I went to Shades' house, picked up Zaf and headed drove straight to the Stadium.

Terk & his friends were already at the stadium, as the kick-off is at 8pm (we seriously didnt know about that, so we took our own sweet time & left the house at 7.30). When we reached Puchong Tol, we were already caught in a jam. We were like "are all these people heading to the stadium?" Apparently not, cause after the tol, the road were not conjested at all(must be the road lanes..). So, we thought we were safe! But, we said it too soon. Just minutes away from the stadium, and yeap, there's where the crowd is, jamming up the roads around the stadium. We had to make a big u-turn (near Mines) before entering the Zone C carpark. The whole jam was so bad, that we actually missed the 1st half of the game!

Once we reached the stadium, we searched for Terk (who was patiently waiting for us!) and with all our might, we ran (yes we did!) from door to door to find other available seats. In the end we did find the seats, but we were all sweaty & a lil' tired from all the jam & running. That time, it was already 55 minutes of the game. Malaysia scored 1 goal, Indonesia nil. The whole stadium were filled (perhaps 90%) with Malaysian fans, wearing yellow football jerseys, where else one side of the stadium were the Red & White Indonesia fans, with lots of FRU people surrounding them.

** For that night, since it was my first ever live football match, I really wanted to blend in & wear a footbal jersey. Unfortunately, I left my MU jersey back in Adelaide. So, with no choice, I had to borrow my Dad's Owen Liverpool jersey which I bought for his bday (so that we can wear it when our teams compete). I've never imagine myself wearing a Liverpool jersey (I like Owen, but not his team). And, I forgot to check the teams' colour for the night, and I ended up looking like a Indonesian supporter! Mental note to self: Please do your research & at least wear the colour of your suporting team! OK now, back to the game..**

I was so amazed with everything.. The very-full stadium was packed with perhpas 80,000 people (or more!) and the Malaysian supporters were so "semangat", I was already excited to be in this crowd. I didn't get a good angle of the game, and a group of these young boys who sat infront of us were blocking our view (when the game gets tense, the boys will stand on their seats, leaving me looking at their behind!) But Terk told them to sit, and the willingly oblige to him. From my view, the player were as tiny as Smurfs, so I didn't know who is who. Just as long the ball goes inside the goal, thats all I need to know.

Soon after, the Indonesian scored their first goal. Nevertheless, the Malaysian supporters were still soaring their heart out, the "semangat" was still there. Then, the Indons scored the 2nd goal, and the Malaysian supporters begin to subside a lil. When the scoreboard was 1-3, the Malaysian supporters were quiet, and shocked! No one was waving their banner, or shouted "Maa-laay-sia"...nothing..the Malaysian fans just stood still.. the only thing moving was the Indonesia's collony, the fans kept on cheering & cheering. And it was about 10 minutes before the game ends. Immediately when the score was 1-4, I can say about 40% of the crowd left the stadium. The seats were empty at certain parts of the stadium, Malaysian supporters were leaving the stadium with full of dissapointment.. And so it is.. Malaysia VS Indonesia, 1-4, with Indonesia going to the Finals.

Oh well..it would have been memorable if Malaysia had won.. Then I can say that my first live match ever won by the Malaysian team. But alas, I won't be saying that after all.. But I did have fun.. I observed through out the game, there were many of the Malaysian team players in casulties. I'm not too sure whether they were that weak, or maybe the Indons were really just tough players. I just hope that the Malaysian team can improve themselves and win big next time round Insyallah..Malaysia Boleh!
