Bedtime Stories

When I was a little girl, before I go to sleep, my mom will let me choose any of the storybooks and read to me until it's time for bed. Usually I will pick my favourite story, which I will get my mom to repeat over & over again. It was quite a special bonding I have with my mom.

Then in my teenager years, I remembered back in the days when I slept over at friends/ cousins house. When it is time to sleep, we gals will switch off the lights, cuddle our teddy bears, and begin our chat mode. Despite being sleepy & tired at the end of the day, and the room is pitch black, but we still have lots of stories& gossips to tell like there's no tomorrow... oh well, at least until someone stops talking or falls asleep that is!

Fast forward to the present, I am still able to have the late nite chats.. with my hubby! After our isyak prayers, we'll switch off the lights, cuddle in bed & usually Mr Bert will start off the conversation. Sometimes about us, sometimes about our family, our fears & hopes. Yesterday was the longest chat we had.. There were pauses, but we kept on talking (with eyes closed mind you). Then, when it is time to sleep, he will kiss my forehead and bid 'Goodnight', and I'd kiss his cheek in return. Then off we go to dreamland..

It's interesting how I could still experience the same enjoyment of 'bed time stories' over the years. I hope there will be many more bedtime stories for many more years to come. :)
