2 months away..

Today was Mr Bert's turn to the tailor..

We sent his baju nikah first.
"Baju bertandang nanti dulu kay.. takut nanti tak muat!"
He is so confident that he'll gain weight after nikah!

Btw, my fiance decided to go for a new look, I called it the 'Warewolf' look. :P
Coincidentally today, he's office is having a Gala dinner tonight, and he plans to dress up as "Hang Tuah", hence the 'unshaven' look.
Or perhaps he feels like celebrating Halloween today..hehe..
He looks very matured, secretly I kinna like it. :P

This is us, "Warewolf & Shewolf" (aa-ooww) 2 months before our big day!
Just 2 months to go, and we'll be Mr & Mrs Bert..
It's just around the corner now, everything has started to kick in..*gulp!*

Soon-to-be Mrs Bert. (that would be me..)
A 26-year-old bride-to-be who is tired, sleepy, stressed and trying to keep herself "sane". Her current life revolves around these two things:-

School concert- From costumes, to souvenir booklet, to hall layout. Currently revising the concert budget, and soon to do the layout of the concert rehearsals and to collect the costumes from the vendors. Since this year's concert is her pilot project, she has to ensure that EVERYTHING runs smoothly. Hence, pressure is on her.

Wedding prep- From cari lining, to cari tailor, to finding matching ribbons, to gift registry shopping. Currently finalizing the wedding cards & guests list. Soon to see cake maker, sending out cards & RSVPs, shopping for remaining hantarans & many many more items in her checklist. Thankfully her mother is already looking for door gifts & decor items. She would like to join her mom, but her tight schedule doesn't permit her to do so.

At the moment, she desperately wants to have a movie outing. Her top choices are This is it, Time Traveller's Wife & Pampodam. (She doesn't mind marathons either).However, she is unable to find any free time due to her up most hectic schedule of school concert & wedding preps. She is also counting the days to her first bridal spa, 2 days after the concert.

So, any takers for this barely breathing and almost drowning bride-to-be?

Wedding baju & Gift Registry..

I had a very busy weekend, focusing on my wedding!

Finally met my tailor to choose the materials for my baju.
We played 'dress up' at the kain shop, he kept on putting materials on me, 4 different layers for my baju.
He also took some net for my veil, which will flow up to my waist.
I went like "Wow..this will be my wedding gown!" Truly can't believe everything is finally happening..
We also bought Mr Bert's suit material, after a very long search.
Now still deciding..to stick to 1 tailor or 2 tailors...Hmmm......

And today, Mr Bert & I finally went "Shopping" for our Gift Registry!
He was pretty skeptical about the whole 'gift registry' idea at first.
But, once we started 'shopping'..he.. well, we both got addicted! If we could take everything from the entire store, we sure will! From Egyptian cotton bedsheets, to feather pillows, to cereal containers, to sandwich maker, to non-stick pans & pots, towels, blender ...the list goes on.
However, we were kind, as we had to put 'ourselves' in ppl's shoes. So we can't choose items that were too expensive. In the end, the items we chose ranges from RM 30 till RM 500. And of course, we don't mind if you wanna "group share" a particular gift.

Although I have not distributed my wedding cards as yet, but you may choose one of the many gifts that we've registered at Metrojaya Midvalley's Customer Service.
We really had fun today! I hope we are able to get most of the items.. *hint hint*wishful thinking*

a) I won't get a huge zit on my cheek. (like the one am having one..sighh)
b) I won't get hiccups (especially during the serious moments! )
c) I don't get my period.. takut stain... (it has been delayed lately..sighh)

This morning as I was on my way to work, I listened to HotFM 's AM Crew. The topic for the morning was "What is the significant of #1 in your life?"

So I called in.. and yes, I was ON AIR again! hehehe...
I spoke about the 1.1.10 date of course!

To be honest, I sounded a little bit "blur".. I think is the morning traffic.
I mean, compared to how I spoke to Prem & Jules, I had more 'creative' things to say.
But with Faizal & Farah.. I was like a little shy girl! chett..
One thing about Faizal & Farah..they are SUPER cheerful in the morning!

In the evening, I told my mom about my on-air debut, and my mom text Farah's mom.
And...to my shock, Farah wants my number...and, the best part.. SHE CALLED!

"La..you ke yg cakap ngan I this morning? Next time, don't use your name Meen.. use Oshin kay!"

She still calls me Oshin! hehe
She is super friendly & nice, I feel like I met a longtime friend.
We spoke about her hectic schedule, about the good old days, about our moms, about our lives now.. A good 10 minutes talk.. She even added me on fb on the spot! She wrote on my wall..
"budak oshin yang comel dah nampak lebih matang dan muslimah.. pray for my turn ya :)"

Wow..I am SO honoured & thrilled to be her friend.
I hope one day I can meet her & just hang out with her. She is so cool ~

of invites..

I have been super busy. Seriously.
Last weekend was packed with open houses. Deeparaya :- 7 houses all together.
I feel like a big round balloon which is about to burst. no no no!!
Need to focus this week.. must! must!

Now, I am busy preparing for 2 weddings. My side, & my father's side.
Since he is all the way on the other side of the world, therefore I have to be in charge of the the rest of the preparation.
First stop:- wedding card.
I decided to go for a 1 piece card, with the tracing paper on top. Will need to buy (more!) ribbons to tie the cards up.
Since it will be a "western" wedding, I've decided to go all 'English' with the card. All words, no numbers..for example, the date part will be "two thousand ten". Cool eh?
Hopefully by end this week, I will get to the 2 finalized sample cards.

Then, very soon, I have to start asking ppl for their address.
It kinna got me thinking..what is the best way to send the invitations out to my fellow guests?

Option 1- to bulk email (via fb) to all my guests, asking them for their current address.

Option 2- to put the invitation on fb's event. and have the option if they require a card, I can post it to them.

Option 3-to personally give the cards to each (if not, most) guests.

Unless,I use all 3 options, but I need to choose the ppl for each option. Tapi, byk keje if like that.. *help!!*

Actually, I am quite sadden.. some of my closest friends/relatives are not able to make it for my big day.Some are overseas, some are on vacations, some have other plans.
Oh well, one good advice I got from my cousin :

"Don't worry.. the ones who can't come won't come. But there will be many others who will come. Even those you didn't think they can come".

Yeah, true. Just be happy that they are ppl coming for the wedding ..They're doa (and presents..hehe) matters most.. kan?

Terk came up with a brilliant idea to have a webcam to capture the "live" telecast of my events for the benefit of those who are not coming.
I thought that was a brilliant idea! But I have not worked out the mechanism yet (which msger, what time, laptop location, wifi availibility,etc).
But at least with this, those who can't come will be "there" to witness everything..I'm thrilled! Thanx terk for the great plan!

Hi Lovely Bride-To-Be!!!

You know when you first told me ages ago you were getting married, aku selamba saja like oh, another fact of life....but now that I'm actually looking at maps on how to get there, making my baju (it's gold with pink silk lining so hope I dont clash with your themes if any), booking hotels...it just hit me...it's all real! Like aaaaahhh, Meen is getting married!!!

Phew. Panic attack feeling but in a good way. Like I ate too much chocolate kinda good.

Thanks heaps for the map, it's certainly made life easier for me hehe. I sooo can't wait to see you! Let's keep in touch ok.

the big meltdown..

Well, one of my teachers did..in my office.
At that point of time, I couldn't hold it any longer.. tears started to pour down effortlessly.
She hugged, she comforted.. I was so touched.
I am human after all.

Today must have been one of the most challenging days of my life.
It has occurred to me that the past 3 years in my school, I will always encounter a major obstacle around this time.
But this year's obstacle is overwhelming.. the pressure from my management, the concert, the parent.. It's getting into my head. It exploded..
But, I have to be strong and face reality. I have to survive.
Ya Allah, please let me be strong. Please be with me. Ameen..

Today,my mom & I headed to Jln Tuanku Abdul Rahman for some kain shopping.

That's me deciding which lining suits best for my baju nikah. I had a dilemma between these two:-

Can you tell the difference?
One is pinkish, one is creme..
Want to know which one I end up choosing? *raising eyebrow up & down*. Wait for new year's eve to find out..

These are for my pengapits.. Shades & Emer..
However, Emer's songket is not pink enough.hmm..
Might need to hunt a pink one soon.. the colour he drags to wear.. (but I will make him wear! muhaha)

And this one, is for my bertadang ceremony. Bluey, me likey..

So, I've completed the kain shopping. We also bought ribbons for the doorgifts.. decided to go for creme ribbons cause it is the safest colour. Still need to go to Wisma Yakin to survey some things.. yes, slowly completing the checklist..

Here's a little something I got from one of blogs I like to read..there is this entry that she wrote, that explains exactly how I feel about Mr Bert at this moment. She wrote this entry 4 years ago, and it is my favourite entry from her. This is a special dedication to my Mr Bert..

"My heart skips a beat every time I think of him, I get cold feet and butterflies in my stomach every time we go out, I barely take smiles away from my face every time he calls or texts or sends me emails, I couldn’t stop talking about him blah blah blah. These symptoms tell me that I’m deeply in love. Ala…kita tahu siapa and what type of a person we want to spend our lives with kan??? Basically, his presence in my life and most importantly in my family’s lives gave us a brand new spark that cannot be traded with anything else in this world.

He didn’t promise me a mammoth-sized solitaire pink diamond ring or a vacation home by the sea in Hawaii or my own pink color private jet named after me, the Eiffel Tower or a cottage in the country side in England or oodles of designer label handbags, clothes, shoes or a personal hairstylist, make-up artist & manicurist just to make me look exquisite, non of any Patek Philippe watch collection etc which I find all of them immaterial in my life. All he offered was himself, his eternal love, his extensive attention and last but not least his tulang empat kerat. That’s the ‘harta’ I treasure most. Along with the ‘harta’, there’s also a list of rules I have to live by. I truly didn’t expect more than he himself purely because I didn’t have anything to offer either.

Finally, here we are today... close to 7 months after the engagement and catching up our breaths preparing for the wedding.

All I want him to know is I can never be happier than this being with him. He completes me! Rupa-rupanya dialah orang yang ditunggu-tunggu selama ni….. "

girlfriends..

I have been catching up with my girlfriends lately.. and I am loving it!
Recently, I managed to meet up with Naj, who was only back in KL for 2 weeks. I didn't get to spend much time with her, as she has such tight schedule. So, mmg tak puas..
Then, I met up with Yit & Chia Yee. The last I saw them was during my engagement day! I was glad when Yit told me "Meen, thank god you are still the 'same'".. I hope that's a good thing!
Yesterday, I met my dear friend Mai. It was so fun hanging out with her! I miss my Adelaide days with her.. just 'shopping' & singing songs aloud. But she's only here until end of the month. I better book her in advance for future outings b4 she leaves.
And finally, I managed to meet up with Mrs Angie, but only for 15 minutes! Oh well, it was a good 15 mins..And she got me the perfect book for me at THIS moment..

Oh yes.. must read soon!
I was flipping thru the pages, and I saw "Chapter 8- 3 months to go..". Hah, it's SO appropriate for me...
Tmrw, I will be hanging out with the gals.. Shades, Farah, Hemy & Moon..can't wait!
Btw, today's marks our 7 months engagement..lucky #7! :)

wedding cards-part 1

Yeay! Finally, I headed to the wedding card shop with my mom.
We went to the same shop that did my bro's wed card 7 years ago, and surprisingly, the shop still look the same!
I went thru the samples in the folders, saw some familiar names (even celebrities!)
So I placed aside some ideas that I felt I like, and started to discuss with my mom.

Colour- Well, knowing me, I love pink! But my mom felt that a wedding card will look nicer if it is in creme. So, the colour will be creme with some pink touches. Fonts will be in dark brown.

Doa- There were so many doa, from Surah Ar-Rum, to Doa Pengantin in various versions. My options were the shorter ones, tak nak panjang berjela sgt.. At the very last before leaving the shop, I saw a doa that was short but unique. So I picked that one.

Names- I've decided to put our full names instead of our nicknames. No initials.

Design- After going thru all the samples, we narrowed down to 2 designs..Will follow thru with envelopes & reply cards.

Well, there are a couple of things that I still need to think about..
1) The part where the parents wants to invite the guest..should it be "menjemput ke majlis perkahwinan..
a)anak kami.. "
b)anak perempuan kami.. "
c)puteri kami .."

Option a is common, option b is more appropriate for me, but mom disagree, option c mcm perasan la pulak.. hehe..

2) The part where they mention the bride & grooms name..should it be..
a)Mrs Bert dengan Mr Bert or
b)Mrs Bert dengan pilihan hatinya Mr Bert or
c)Mrs Bert & Mr Bert

Option a is so common, option b is sweet, but is it appropriate? option c is simple, but my mom don't agree, saying that it's too English to do so. (huh?)

The lady will have the 2 sample cards ready for viewing in a couple of weeks. Can't wait!

happy tuesday..

Oh gosh.. my school concert is a month from today.
I have been Super Duper busy in the office.. it never ends..
Am looking forward for my first spa treatment, which is after the concert.
Dear God, please keep my mind sane right till the end! (o_O)

Finally, after 5 weeks.. I headed to the gym..
I kinna forgot certain things.. like was supposed to pass my card to exchange with a towel.Initially I forgot my locker keys, lucky thing I was just a few steps away from my car to get it. I sayy..
Today was Body Combat session..and I felt fantastic.
The trainer played some powerful songs... with all the punch, kick, sidekick, hyah! hyah!
I felt so semangat! I was sweating all over my body..
But of course, my knees are aching now!
I've decided..today's the day.. I have to be strict with myself.
I have to fit my wedding dress! There no other months! It's do or die meen!!

We hardly have long phone calls, as he likes to make the calls short. The shorter, the better.
But just now, he was in the talking mood..which is a plus sign.
It was in his good moods, so that's why he's talks & talks..
He can be quite a chatter when he wants to!

Dad contributed his idea for the envelope, which was a surprise..
I want to put in a gift registry card for guest to buy 'appropriate' pressies for us. And so far, I have a rough idea of what we need for the house.. Dayang gave me an idea for an online one..
